make money online

Bux.to is NOT a Autosurf, Multi-Level Marketing, Pyramid, Ponzi, Matrix or "Get Rich Quick" scheme.
Bux.to is a new innovative, international and FREE English based service that allows advertisers to reach thousands of potential customers by displaying their ad on our, "Surf Ads" page. A exact calculated percentage of all advertising revenue is paid to our members. Bux.to makes money via advertising, other advertising sources throughout the website as well as earning through direct sponsorship of other Bux.to members, just like a regular member does.

How you make money
You view websites in 30 second sessions via the "Surf Ads" page. Once the 30 seconds is up, you'll either get a green tick sign or a red 'X'. The green tick sign means you've earned $0.01 and as premium member $0.0125 for the visit and the 'X' means you have not earned money for the visit. You'll get red X's when you have more than one website from the "Surf Ads" page open. When this happens, you get no credit.

A valuable benefit to both the members and the advertisers is the repeat exposure that the advertiser gets. Whenever you click and view a website, you can visit that website again in 24 hours as long as the visit cap hasn't been reached. That's right! After 24 hours you can click and view the website again. This gives the advertiser optimal exposure by using "repeat advertising" and it further increases the members earning potential.

Earnings example (based on current averages)
» You click 10 ads per day = $0.10
» 20 referrals click 10 ads per day = $2.00
» Your daily earnings = $2.10
» Your weekly earnings = $14.70
» Your monthly earnings = $63.00

although, we cannot guarantee that you will earn such a profit.

While we have no way of knowing how many ads will be available on a per week basis, we do know that Bux.to is growing rapidly and advertisers are discovering the true potential of our service. We've just started and our advertiser base is small so BE PATIENT! Over the next coming months you will see an increase in the ads which will only increase your earnings! This is not a get-rich-scheme or scam, but it can put some extra gas money in your pocket!

Guide to Meeting Workers' Comp Requirements

Shop for the best price then get an audit to save costs
By Chris Caggiano

Workers' compensation insurance covers employees who are injured or become sick during work activities. Most states require businesses to have coverage. Because each state has different policies and procedures, it's important to investigate requirements in every state in which your employees live, work, or travel.
Some states require you to buy coverage through state-operated funds, while others allow you to buy either from state funds or from independent operators. Workers' comp rates are rising faster than those for any other insurance coverage, but there are ways to keep your costs down:

Shop around to find the best coverage for your company
Focus on prevention to keep premiums down
Consider bringing in an outside firm to audit your coverage for savings

Action Steps
The best contacts and resources to help you get it done

Find your state(s) requirements
Requirements vary by state, so make sure you investigate each state where you have employees.

I recommend: Use this list of the workers' comp authorities in all 50 states and DC. For information on workers' comp rules in general and how your state might differ, check out the site for National Council on Compensation Insurance.

Contact providers
Some states require you to obtain coverage through their state-operated funds, but others allow you to choose your coverage. If your state allows you to choose, ask your other insurance carriers if they offer workers' comp and whether they provide any package deals.

I recommend: To receive quotes from multiple carriers, use this quote-request form at BuyerZone. If well-known brand names make you comfortable, you might consider contacting some of the big names in insurance – Travelers, Fireman's Fund, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford, CNA – all of which provide workers' comp coverage. Or try Insurance Noodle a specialist in small business insurance lines, including workers' comp.

Consider a workers' comp audit
Auditors will check your insurance bills against your internal information to find areas in which you may have been overcharged.

I recommend: Check out workers' comp auditors like those of Revenue Recovery and Business Planning Group or WCA Cost Recovery Consultants. Or ask your accountant, lawyer, or banker for referrals.

Implement workplace-safety policies and procedures
When it comes to workers' comp, prevention is the best medicine. Establish safety programs and drug-free workplace policies..

I recommend: Use the extensive workplace safety checklist from Nonprofit Risk Management Center. For information on setting up a workplace-safety policy, see BizFilings.com. Contact the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to find information about particular workplace issues, whether it's hazardous substances that your employees regularly come in contact with or health issues that commonly affect your industry, such as carpal-tunnel syndrome.
Tips & Tactics
Helpful advice for making the most of this Guide

Check with your trade or business association to see if you can get a better rate through them.
You might have "employees" that you're not aware of. Investigate any uninsured contractors or subcontractors that you might be responsible for.
Ask your insurance company if you can pay as you go, rather than pay in one lump sum. More and more insurance companies are offering this service.
Check out discounts for "good behavior." Some carriers offer discounts of 5% to 15% if you have few, small, or no claims in a given year, or if you've implemented workplace safety or drug-free workplace programs and policies.

A job for lifestyle

Don't just follow the crowd to London, says Hazel Davis. You can find a good career and better quality of life outside the capital
guardian.co.uk, Wednesday April 23 2008

If you want to get ahead, get a London flat. That's the overriding message of most graduate careers centres. By all means eventually live somewhere else, they say, but if you want a "career" or any sort of life, the bright lights and big city are where you should be.

But for many of us that just isn't the case. I live in West Yorkshire and manage to do a job which involves me explaining nearly every single day that, yes, the invention of the laptop and kettle means I can live "rurally" and also write articles, and that Stephenson's brainwave means I am never that far from a major city when I need to be.

There are several things you can do early on to ensure your career allows you to achieve the kind of life you want outside work.

1. Prioritise
When you are a new graduate, bear in mind that the world is more or less your oyster. Rather than pitching your lot in with all the other 10m people in the capital, think about how you want to spend your days and consider making your life somewhere else. If you like museums and cafes and late-night culture, you're probably best off avoiding Crewe. But if you eat, sleep and breathe surfing, for example, don't bag yourself a Wimbledon flat and a job in the City, however appealing the pay packet.

Anne Wollenberg (27) graduated from Exeter University in 2005 with an MA in English and a BA in English and sociology. "When all my coursemates immediately decamped to London to work in publishing I wasn't that keen," she says. "After spending my university years living in Exeter, close to countryside and the ocean, I didn't see living and working in London as something to aspire to, but as a potential necessity."

That necessity never arose and after working for a magazine in Exeter, Wollenberg moved to Bath to work for an entertainment website. "Bath is easy to travel to Oxford and Cardiff, where I have family, and Devon where I have friends, and easy to get to London if I book cheap advance tickets," she says. "I can walk everywhere, I can see fields and the river from my bedroom window and quality of life comes much cheaper when you don't have to worry about London rent."

2. Do your research
When she accepted the job, Wollenberg had only been to Bath once - for her interview. She says: "I didn't have much time to prepare, but I did a lot of internet research while looking for somewhere to live, because I wanted to make sure I was living in a nice area with decent public transport and wasn't being overcharged on rent."

Wherever you decide to live, research is important, says Hebden Bridge-based personal life coach Jan Scott. "If you like the sound of somewhere, go on a mission around the shops looking at notice boards," she says. "'Get hold of the local paper, scan the 'What's On' pages - make sure you've got a notebook and pen with you."

Scott suggests you use social networking sites to find out more. "Contact all your Facebook friends to find out who and what they know," she says. "Make contact in a warm and friendly way with anyone who lives in the new town. Keep in touch with them and buy them a coffee once you're settled in."

Many workplaces have a social calendar and it's worth checking this out when you're researching potential employers. It may be old-fashioned but, says Scott, "don't forget the local library; a great source of information about what's going on in the town".

3. Look for a flexible employer
If work-life balance is your priority, don't think you have to sacrifice career advancement to get it. Multinational companies frequently support staff mobility. At Tesco, for example, during annual face-to-face career planning sessions with managers, employees can indicate their level of desired mobility. Their employers record whether they are unwilling to move at all, or willing to move globally.

Lorna Bryson, Tesco's head of resourcing for its UK operations, says all its employees have the same opportunities for development, regardless of where they are based. So if you wanted to work your way up the corporate ladder but fancied a scenic passage, you could check out Tesco's farthest-flung UK destination in Thurso on the northern Scottish coast.

4. Don't be afraid to settle down
Wherever you end up in your first job, it's worth noting that once you've moved there it could be difficult to leave. The capital resounds with the echoes of once-new graduates saying: "I'll just stay in London and work my socks off for a bit, then I'll get a garden in the countryside." But that might not matter. If you can get your work-life-location balance in place when you start your first job, you might not want to go anywhere else.

In Saturday's Graduate section, Hazel Davis will be talking to graduates striving for good work-life balance, even in their first jobs

Balancing work and the good life

On day three of our work-life balance week we're looking at quality of life. What do we mean by it, how do we find it and can we fit work around it, asks Ian Wylie
www.guardian.co.uk , Wednesday April 23 2008

As part of the Guardian's work-life balance week we're looking at the issue of quality of life. What do we mean when we talk about a better quality of life, how do we find it and how do we fit work around it?

People mean many different things when they speak about quality of life. Low crime rates, fresh air to breathe, good restaurants, access to the countryside or coast; any of these could be an interpretation of the good life.

However, quality of life seems to be determined mostly by where we live and work. Next month, employee consultancy Mercer publishes its latest annual Quality of Living survey - a ranking of cities around the world. It says there are some factors that most people agree on as being important for having good quality of living standards, such as safety and security, reliable health care, transport infrastructure, good housing and schooling and recreation opportunities.

Ignoring Samuel Johnson's advice on being tired of London, I quit the capital almost 15 years ago to go freelance and live in Newcastle. I think I can remember telling surprised colleagues that I thought the quality of life would be better in the north-east. And I definitely recall one of them - a northerner from Sheffield to boot - predicting I'd soon come crawling back. "If you're serious about your career as a journalist, you need to be in London," she scolded.

I don't doubt that there was truth in what she said. If you want to reach the pinnacle of some professions - journalism, advertising, banking, law, to name but a few - London is the only place to be. But I make a reasonable living and believe the career sacrifices I've made are worth it - to be able to live, with my family, in a place we enjoy what we consider to be a decent quality of life.

For us it's the north-east - after all, a report this week by the Institute for Public Policy Research claims it's Britain's most neighbourly region - but for others it's Scotland, Yorkshire, Devon, New Zealand - or even London.

We're talking all this week about balance. When it comes to enjoying a good quality of life, the best balance to be struck is where you - and not your career - dictate where you live. We've got tips on how you can do just that, and on the blog, Dr Frank Shaw of the Centre for Future Studies looks at how technology is set to make life even easier for those of us who want to work away from the office. Read about his vision of the future and have your say.

Guide to Creating a Great Business Brochure

How to get noticed with a simple eye-catching brochure
By Jenni Simcoe

simple brochure can be a powerful marketing tool. You can leave it behind after a sales meeting, make it available near your point of sale or pop it in the mail to prospective customers. Creating a great brochure isn't rocket science. In fact, with just a few simple techniques, you can develop a brochure that entices customers to open it and read more rather than tossing it in the circular file.
A great brochure can:

Educate customers about the benefits of your products and services
Establish credibility and trust as an established business
Provide a long-lasting reminder of your business

Action Steps
The best contacts and resources to help you get it done

Decide on a concept
Determine how you'll use your brochure – will it be a leave behind after sales meetings, a point of sale offering or a direct mail marketing piece? The information you include will depend on its overall purpose.

I recommend: Download HP.com's how-to guide or PowerHomeBiz.com's online tutorial on creating marketing brochures for help getting started. Discover more about the various brochure types before you start designing and copywriting.

Sell benefits not products
Customers don't buy products or services, they buy the benefits of a product or service. In your brochure, concentrate on offering solutions to your customers' needs. Think about placing a statement or question that sums up the benefits you can provide for your customers on your front cover.

I recommend: Learn the cardinal rules of selling benefits at Marketing-Magic.com

Use headlines, bullet points, charts and images
Nobody wants to wade through massive blocks of text. Break up your text with strong images, bold headlines and other graphic elements that grab the reader's attention. Studies show that readers look at images and headlines first, body copy last. Because of this, try to get your most important information and selling points across in the images and headlines.

I recommend: Learn more about what copy should be included and where it belongs in the brochure at Digital Concepts For Business website.

Include a call to action
Your brochure should always ask customers to take action — order now, schedule an appointment, call to place an order, visit your Web site, see your new showroom, send in a form to receive a free evaluation, stop by your location to pick up a complimentary sample.

I recommend: Learn how to write a compelling call to action at BusinessKnowHow.com.

Create an eye-catching design
Whether you decide to design a simple brochure yourself or you hire a designer for a more complex design, you need to know the basics of brochure design. Get creative with your design to make your brochure more memorable. For instance, if you have a pizza delivery shop, create a brochure in the shape of a pizza.

I recommend: Stock Layouts templates makes it easy to design your own company brochure by simply editing the copy of over 95 existing designs that already include photo, artwork and layouts. You can also find free brochure templates at HP.com. Find out the difference in a c-fold, accordion fold and crossfold.

Hire a professional designer
If creating design seems too confusing or too time consuming, consider hiring a professional designer. Professional designers are often aware of options you may not even consider, including printing techniques such as spot varnishes, die cuts and bleeds.

I recommend: For reasons to hire a pro, check out Agency.Elance.com. To find a freelance graphic designer that specializes in brochures, post your job on IFreelance.com or Guru.com and get free bids from hundreds of designers.

Print it
Once you've come up with astellar design and easy-to-read copy, it's time to print your brochures. If you only need a small run of brochures, you may be able to print them yourself on a high-quality color laser or inkjet printer. In most cases, you'll need to outsource the printing.

I recommend: For quick, do-it-yourself jobs, find pre-scored glossy brochure paper at Avery.com. For bigger runs, get multiple quotes from printers that specialize in brochures at PrintIndustry.com. To get fast printing turnaround on a brochure that's ready to go, check out 48HourPrint.com or OvernightPrints.com.
Tips & Tactics
Helpful advice for making the most of this Guide

Avoid listing prices, event dates or staff information that could change. This could result in having incorrect information in the public eye and be costly to reprint every time a change is required.
Add an order coupon or a postcard to request more information on the back panel without compromising text on the opposite panel.
Make a checklist of what needs to be included in the brochure and who needs to approve it before it goes to print. Have everyone initial the checklist after they've looked at proofs to ensure that all appropriate copy is included and there are no errors.

Five Steps for Updating Your Resume

It's a new year! And while you may not need an entirely new resume, you should probably freshen up your current credentials.

Updating your resume doesn't have to be too time-consuming or painful, says resume expert Lauren Milligan, founder of ResuMAYDAY, a Chicago-based resume writing and career services firm. She shares five quick tips for breathing new life into your old resume.

1. Start at the End

Don't overwhelm yourself by looking at your entire resume -- yet. "Look at the bottom of your resume and see if there's anything new that you can add. Workshops, professional training, or awards are a quick way to add something current," says Milligan.

2. Where You've Been and Where You're Going

Next, look at the position nearest the bottom of your resume. Milligan advises, "Ask yourself if it's still relevant to your current career goal. If it's not, delete it so you can build on more current accomplishments that will further your career."

If that last position is still somewhat relevant, "Just edit it down. The very first position you held should get the least amount of attention," she reveals.

3. A Year in the Life

Turn your attention toward your current job. Milligan says, "Update any new projects or accomplishments that have occurred over the last year. Even if it's not a promotion, just include anything from 2007 that can be added to it."

4. Update Your Look

Current information deserves a current look. Does your resume look stylish and polished -- or plain, dull, and dated? If so, Milligan believes it may be time to give your resume a face lift. "If you're still using the same resume format you used a few years ago, you should change it to something more suited to the positions you're currently pursuing -- not those you had after graduation."

Also, make your resume available in several formats -- text only, Microsoft Word, and a PDF. "There's a good use for each of these formats. Having a PDF of your resume at the ready implies a little more technical savvy on your part."

5. Proofread. Proofread. Proofread.

Milligan cannot stress enough the importance of proofreading your resume. "Every time you make any changes to your resume, it's possible to introduce another error," says the resume and careers guru. "Proofread it again and again, and ask a few friends to look at it, also. You can never be too careful."

Adds Milligan, "If you have a 'blah' resume, you're leaving yourself open to those jobs that other aren't willing to do. Update it to make it great!"

Job Hunting in an Unsteady Economy

Whether or not the U.S. economy has hit a recession, one thing is clear these days: Uncertainty is in the air, and it affects nearly every economic sector, including the job market.

The recent rise in the U.S. unemployment rate -- 5.1% in March -- indicates that fewer jobs are being created, but the shrinkage may not affect job-seekers in some fields, such as technology or health care. Nonetheless, experts say job seekers should pay attention to current economic conditions and expect that the job-search process may take longer.

Adjust Your Approach?

"The unemployment rate has risen, but it is not at a point that should cause job seekers to panic," says John Challenger, CEO of outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. "Even at 5.2% or 5.3%, there is still demand for workers. Those seeking jobs in construction or mortgage lending might have a more difficult time finding employment, but we have not seen a significant downturn in hiring in other sectors."

Alexandra Levit, author of "They Don't Teach Corporate in College," suggests job seekers may want to alter their approach due to economic uncertainties.

"Perhaps this means earning a paycheck at your current job while conducting interviews over your lunch break or doing volunteer work on the weekend that might lead to a paid gig," she says. "If you are currently unemployed, you may have to settle for a situation that's not 100% ideal in order to keep yourself afloat through the downturn."

David Bach, a workforce development specialist in San Francisco, says job seekers can "improve their competitive edge by becoming more aware of the top ongoing employers." Fields that are less affected by the evolving economy -- such as education, health care, and energy -- make an ideal focus right now, he adds.

Tips for Reaching Your Goal

Experts recommend the following actions to increase your job-search success in an uncertain economic climate.

* Tailor your presentations; don't be generic. "In developing a resume and other promotions materials, think about how your current skills and talents apply directly to the responsibilities you'll hold in the new job," says Levit.

* "Create a target list of companies," says career coach Julie Jansen, author of "You Want Me to Work with Who?" She suggests sending the list to 25 people, asking them if they can put you in touch with an employee at one of the listed companies.

* "Make yourself and your skills more visible," says Bach. He suggests posting and refreshing your resume in more places, such as online job boards, and going to job fairs.

* "Create an advisory board of smart and empathetic people and confer with them regularly about your job search," says Jansen.

* "Hone and utilize your 'elevator pitch' as often as possible," says Bach, referring to a 30-second summary of your professional assets.

* Keep your spirits high. Don't let the process overwhelm you or weigh you down. Jansen advises, "Make a list of your five favorite things to do, and do them!"

* Make an effort daily. "Do one thing each day -- like emailing a new contact or attending a networking event -- that moves your job search forward," says Levit. "Your worst enemy is inertia."

You will also facilitate and drive a site release agility initiative and performance testing enhancement related effort and, time permitting, write specification and project manage projects within the Product Services team. You will be accountable for coordinating cross-group activities to achieve effectiveness in described focus areas and responsibilities.

Skills and experience required include: 5 years experience in managing production web sites; extensive experience working with offshore and international teams, strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively across groups; advanced experience in project management (schedules, risks, change control, Product Studio and MS Project, etc.) and in program management (innovating, articulating other’s ideas into plans, specs, usability, shipping features, working well with Development, strong technical background, strong negotiation skills, customer passion); advanced knowledge of IIS (4.0 and up), Windows Server (NT 4.0 and up), CMS/ BroadVision / Vignette or some large publishing platform; solid knowledge of ASP and ASP.NET, SQL and .NET architecture and CLR; A BA/BS or MS degree in computer science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience required.

Software Development Engineer, Site Development Team
You know, we had a prepared speech ready to tell you how great this job is, but instead, we’re going to tear that speech up and just speak from the heart.

(Sound of prepared speech being torn up.)

Here’s the bottom line: We’re looking for software developer who’s two things:

1) A brilliant software engineering mind who can’t be contained in just one technology. Your war stories include adventures in C#, SQL, XML/XSL/XSLT, ASP.NET and some stuff they haven’t even created acronyms for yet. Whatever it took to get the job done. You’ve had it with the dull, siloed, bureaucratic existence in huge corporations, but you really don’t want to go work for a startup where chaotic 100-hour weeks are the norm and every bug is treated like a company-wide panic attack that threatens to imperil the next round of funding.

2) You’re a news junkie. Some have even called you a “problem news junkie.”

If that sparks your interest, keep reading. Msnbc.com is a company of about 200 employees dedicated to delivering the Web’s leading news site and helping define the future of journalism in the process. According to our internal figures, we serve approximately a billion page views a month. That’s “billion” with a “b.” Though we’re the 10-year-old brainchild of corporate parents Microsoft and NBC Universal, we have a distinct culture all our own. At msnbc.com, you get a profit sharing program, but also a life.

But enough about us. Let’s talk about you.

As an msnbc.com Software Development Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design and develop advanced features and functionality in a multi-tier Web environment. Duties include creating and reviewing functional and design specifications, writing and reviewing C#, XSL and SQL code, debugging and analyzing code, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to site features, and working closely with program managers, testers, and other business teams in the process.

You’ll need to apply advanced C# programming skills, excellent XML/XSL/XSLT skills, and solid SQL database architectural and development skills. Additionally, you’ll need working knowledge of highly scalable internet-based systems and experience in shared development with ASP.NET, Web services, Internet Protocols (Soap/XML etc), HTML/DHTML/CSS, IIS, and scripting languages (VBScript, Jscript). To demonstrate your experience in programming for Web environments, please provide specific URLs that showcase high-traffic sites and projects you’ve worked on.

You’ll also need to be creative. Really. We have a company-wide brainstorming alias and people from all disciplines contribute and debate innovative ideas as we determine what to build next. You’ll also need a firm grasp of what we like to call “the basics”: knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle, strong ship discipline, outstanding written and verbal skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with partners inside and outside of msnbc.com without baffling or enraging them. You also need to be exceptionally self-motivated, because we’re really just too small to hire professional motivators who do nothing all day but stand behind you barking encouragement while you’re trying to code.

A BS degree in computer science or related program is preferred, but if you can make the case that you’ve amassed an equivalent level of knowledge from your personal school of real-world experience and hard knocks (see also: Bill Gates), hey, make your pitch.

We should warn you, however, that this place is pretty intense. This is the news business, after all. History live. Some days you get to work on what you planned. Some days you get Hurricane Katrina. You’ll need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative environment, juggle priorities and resources with ease, improvise and adapt to overcome obstacles, and assess risk and make trade-offs to achieve project goals. No one said driving the future of news was going to be easy. That’s why we try to have a little fun during the downtimes and even the busy times.

At msnbc.com, thinking big and taking risks is a part of our culture. If that’s the kind of challenge you’re looking for, contact us today.

Technical Account Manager
Are you the type of person that loves working with partners on projects at both the technical and business level, balancing a variety of short to long term software development projects, and triaging day-to-day partner requests all at once to help both businesses thrive!? If so, we might just have the job for you:

Msnbc.com is seeking a dynamic Technical Account Manager to manage and develop a premier partner relationship. You will be the critical link for the organization of all partner projects built on the msnbc.com publishing platform; assessing the technical feasibility for new projects in collaboration with engineering and stakeholders; managing the project calendar and resourcing, ensuring sufficient resources are applied to projects and milestones; communicating project expectations and ensure project timeliness; generating project status reports; acting as first point of contact for all partner related projects; managing contractors and additional resources as necessary; and providing creative and technical direction for new projects. You must be a creative, self motivated, dynamic, quality conscious, detailed project leader with a track record of effective decision making, people management, problem solving skills, with extremely strong verbal and written communication skills. You also must have the desire to forge successful long-term partnerships and possess the ability to handle uncertainty, ambiguity and the unique demands of the web space/time. Travel from Redmond to New York on a quarterly basis is necessary.

The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS degree in Computer Science (or related technical major), a minimum of 4 years experience in platform and web site development. Experience in external partner account management is preferred, experience in the online media industry a definite plus.
